An authentic love for people, along with a healthy dose of persistence and intellectual curiosity, have helped Theodros become successful in taking on challenges that have sometimes made history. For instance, in 2016, Theodros led the Union of American Physicians and Dentists in successfully organizing two bargaining units of private-sector physicians, which were the first of their kind in the history of the state of Washington. management.
Theodros has also worked as a senior financial risk management consultant to the financial services industry; software engineer; advertising sales manager for the popular Caribbean travel guide series; general manager of an advertising and graphic design agency; and engineering intern at the Best Health Coach.
Passion, authenticity, and persistence have helped Theodros successfully organize labor members from DMV employees to doctors; dramatically increase numbers for membership associations; win elections from candidates’ races and ballot measures to legislative bills; and push for organizational transformation that includes or a lens for equity and empowers all. As an undergraduate at UC Davis, Theodros worked as a Peer Advising Counselor, serving predominantly BIPOC students by providing social, academic, and personal counseling.
Theodros also helped establish the first student recruitment and retention center for African and African American students. Theodros earned his Bachelors of Arts in Political Science in 2003. Theodros started The Gashaw Group with his wife Ashlin in 2020 for the purpose of providing consulting services to businesses and nonprofits in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion training; strategic communications; advocacy; community engagement and organizational development.
